Today I'll talk about a problem with Excel gridlines. When you open any Excel workbook, you will notice faint horizontal and vertical lines. These lines serve as borders for each cell, making your data simple to read. Gridlines are the titles applied to these lines. Gridlines may need to be shown or hidden based on the scenario. In this article, I'll go over a variety of techniques for showing or hiding gridlines in Excel. Gridlines can be displayed or hidden for a specific range as well as the entire worksheet. You can use the Ribbon or change the background color to display or hide gridlines. To learn them all, read the whole article.


Show Gridlines in an Entire Worksheet/Workbook
You can enable gridlines in Excel for multiple worksheets or the entire workbook.
- Hold down the Ctrl key and select the necessary sheet tab at the bottom of the Excel window.
- Go to the View tab from the Ribbon.
- Click on the Gridlines check box from the Show group.

- Alternatively, you can go to the Page Layout tab.
- Click on the View check box from the Sheet Options group.

Hide Gridlines in Excel
- If you want to hide the gridlines in Excel after enabling it, you can uncheck the View check box from the Sheet Options group.

- Alternatively, you can uncheck the Gridlines check box from the Show group to hide gridlines in Excel.

Hide Gridlines in Excel by Changing the Fill Color
Another way to hide or show gridlines is to use the Fill Color feature. If you select the background color as white, all the gridlines will be removed. You can apply this method both for select cells and the entire worksheet. If you select your background color as No Fill, the gridlines will be visible again.
- To select the entire worksheet click on the triangle at the intersection of the row and column ribbons.

- Go to the Home tab.
- Open the Fill Color drop-down list from the Font group.
- Select the White color to hide/remove the gridlines.
📓Note: Choose No Fill if you want to show gridlines again

Hide Gridlines from the Specific Cell
For a specific purpose if you need to hide gridlines from specific cells you can apply a white border or a white background.
- Select the range you need to hide gridlines.
- Right-click on the mouse.
- Select the Format Cells from the context menu.

- Go to the Border tab from the Format Cells window.
- Select the White color.
- Click on the Outline and Inside buttons under Presets.

- Click OK to view the changes.

📓Note: To bring back the gridlines again click on None from Presets.
